Are You Feeling Lost in Your Weight Loss Journey?

My future bestie Mel Robbins posted this in her Instagram feed yesterday, and I saw it at the exact right time (as usual):

“You might not be where you want to be yet. But you’re also not where you used to be.”

And I had just posted something of my own that said this:

“Reminder: you don’t have to figure it all out today. Change happens in tiny steps and has many setbacks. A little self compassion goes a very long way.”

It wraps down to being able to see and acknowledge your progress, no matter how insignificant it may appear to you, while also recognizing (without shame and judgement) that you have more work to do.

Why look for and acknowledge the smallest of things?

Momentum.

If you’re not seeing those micro-changes, then you’re not looking for them. And if you’re not looking, then you’re only seeing the “lack” of progress. And that gives you the convenient excuse to tell yourself, “This isn’t working.”

Maybe you’ve been giving this all of the effort you have in you and you’re getting results that are less than what you’d expect.

Now, if you only do that once or twice, you might get discouraged. This is the dangerous part because you can lose heart. If you quit here you miss the opportunity to grow.

Putting your heart and soul into it until you get what you want regardless of how many times you don’t get the results you expect is what it takes.

Does that sound overwhelming? Unrealistic? Like complete and utter bullshit?

Well, what does your “heart and soul” look like?

I believe it looks different every day, just like your “best” looks different every day.

It’s pretty much the same thing. It’s your dedication to yourself.

I have days where things are pretty rough, and I feel pretty defeated. But I’ll tell you something… I’ve made the decision that no matter how little I get done or how negative my brain tries to be every day, I give every day my fucking all. My heart and my soul. And some days it’s hours of concentrated effort while some days I’m exhausted after 10 minutes.

My point is that if you have these low days where you’re only giving it 10 minutes and you’re not acknowledging that 10 minutes, then you are much more likely to fall into the pattern of telling yourself that you’re failing.

Your brain will tell you “I knew it, I’m not cut out for this.” You can listen and quit OR you can look at your result and ask yourself, what is the problem I need to solve? And use your creative mind to come up with solutions.

We are ALL creative. You may not think you are because you were told things in your formative years that made you believe otherwise. But now is the time to start really listening to the whispers of what you can create for yourself in your own life.

You don’t have to live by the rulebook of someone else; we get to make our own rules. As long as you’re not harming others in the process, what’s wrong with believing something different? Practicing something that can create a better relationship with yourself?

We’re conditioned to always be looking outside of ourselves for fulfillment…in relationships, in acknowledgment, in ways to accomplish things. But finding it in ourselves is what enables us to steady ourselves against the shit that life throws at us.

Friendships will fade; loved ones will die; relationships will end. The only constant in life is yourself.

Being willing to feel uncomfortable feelings without immediately resorting to eating your face off makes all the difference in how we move forward from painful experiences.

The world is full of rage, destruction, sadness…it’s also full of hope, kindness, and endless possibilities.

So in the paraphrased words of Gandhi:  Be the change you want to see in the world.

The change in YOUR world needs to come from within.

And it’s absolutely possible. I believe in you. When you’re ready for guidance, email me at dana@revolution-within.com.
